Welcome to Kindergarten!

This year we have three kindergarten teachers due to an increase in enrollment and in an effort to keep our class sizes low. As a result of this change in staffing from 2 teachers last year to three teachers, our structure for our students in our dual language setting will look slightly different in Kindergarten. At Riverview, we hold the 50/50 dual language model with a high level of integrity in grades K-4. In a 50/50 model, students receive instruction for 50% of the time in both English and Spanish. They also receive direct literacy instruction daily in English and in Spanish. Our kinders in 2 classrooms, Sra Rojas and Mrs. Burkett, will travel between both classrooms daily and will have an English teacher and a Spanish teacher. This model mirrors grades 1-4. The additional classroom added this year, Mrs. Virginia, is a self-contained 50/50 dual language classroom. Mrs. Virginia will instruct students in both English and Spanish, following the 50/50 dual language model as well.

We are so grateful that you have chosen Riverview for kindergarten! Our team is hard at work planning for your little ones. We are proud to introduce you to our amazing team!
Eli Rojas | Kinder Spanish
My name is Elizabeth Rojas! I am the new Spanish kindergarten teacher I am from Spain from a magical medieval city called Granada. I studied fine arts and elementary education. I am very excited to be a part of Riverview school and in the kindergarten team. Teaching is my passion, I love working with children for many reasons but specially because they are real genius, they are always busy creating new things and looking for you to share it. Being surrounded by brightness, enthusiasm and transparency it makes me feel very happy, and they are all of it all the time. My family and I like the lifestyle in the Rocky Mountains and their people, and we are blessed to live here since 2012.
Courtney Hill | Kinder English
My name is Courtney Hill. I am a Colorado native currently living in New Castle. I recently graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. I completed my Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and I am "Read to Succeed" endorsed. I moved back to Colorado to pursue my dream of teaching and making a difference in the lives of young children. I love watching children grow and learn through exploration, creativity, and self-determination. I was a preschool teacher last year at Riverview! Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family camping and riding. I look forward to getting to know you and your child, as we learn and grow together!
Virginia Buelvas
I am Virginia Buelvas, the Bilingual Kindergarten teacher. I moved from Montana just a few weeks ago with my family but I am originally from Colombia. My career has always been related to languages and education. I will teach in English and Spanish. I also speak French and had the opportunity to teach Spanish to high schoolers in France. I have 2 children who will come with me to Riverview. I love dancing, reading, and spending time with my family! I am very thrilled to be your teacher and look forward to building a caring and responsible community of learners. I cannot wait to meet you and your child!
